COMPUTD joins the Supernova Buildathon 2026 as mentors and jurors to support teams in building working prototypes within 48 hours.

The event is organized by MSV Incognito, the former study association at Maastricht University of a lot of our team members. The event brings together developers, designers, developers, and students who want to turn an idea into something real. The participating teams will build in person and present their projects during the final demo session.

From Idea to Prototype in 48 Hours

The Supernova Buildathon is built around execution. Instead of focusing only on pitching an idea, participants spend the weekend building and testing a working demo.

Projects can take many forms, including AI powered applications, web tools, automations, startup MVPs, and open build prototypes. The buildathon structure helps teams go from brainstorming to building and finally to a demo that users can actually try.

COMPUTD will support this process by guiding teams through the most important steps that decide whether a prototype succeeds.

Mentoring Support by COMPUTD

During the buildathon, COMPUTD mentors will support teams with practical guidance that helps them build faster and stay focused. We help teams sharpen their problem framing by turning a rough idea into a clear goal that can be tested. We also support scope control by helping teams decide what to build first, so the project stays achievable within 48 hours.

On the technical side, we guide teams in making data and AI choices that fit the time and resources available, with an approach that can be validated quickly. Finally, we help teams prepare for the demo by making sure they can clearly show what they built, explain what works, what the current limitations are, and what the next step would be after the weekend.

This support helps teams avoid common mistakes such as unclear objectives, unrealistic scope, or building features that cannot be tested during the buildathon.
