AI for Limburg-Based Businesses – Maastricht University
In a feature by Maastricht University, co-founder and CEO of COMPUTD, Marcell Ignéczi, reflects on his journey from student to entrepreneur in the heart of South Limburg. Originally from Hungary, Marcell moved to Maastricht to study Data Science & Knowledge Engineering and later completed a master’s in Data Science for Decision Making. His academic experience, especially the problem-based learning approach, laid the foundation for what would become a fast-growing AI businesses in the region.
COMPUTD’s mission goes beyond technical implementation. The aim is to demystify AI and make it accessible for companies of all sizes. Despite the early challenges (like launching during COVID-19) COMPUTD has grown into a trusted AI partner in Limburg, earning recognition at the Brilliant Business Awards.
Marcell credits his academic roots and the international atmosphere of Maastricht as key assets in building COMPUTD. The firm continues to collaborate with the university through internships, career events, and research projects.
